Every Bag Counts, yet countless bags get thrown into landfills every year. This is why we collect, clean, refurbish and count any bag, regardless of who originally made it. This process is what makes any bag a Day Owl bag. Every bag in this batch was thoughtfully handcrafted by Sofiya and Sara in Pittsburgh PA.

Secondhand Process
Each bag we receive is cleaned and sanitized before we begin the repair process. It is carefully evaluated for repairs. Our seamstress then uses spare parts and materials to mend the bag in our workspace in Pittsburgh. They are given a unique Day Owl serial number, a signifier that this bag is certified Day Owl Secondhand. By giving each bag individual care, we are able to keep these bags in circulation and out of the landfill.
The process is tailored to the needs of each bag. You may notice some of our mends are visible and colorful. The bag carries the story and memories of those who made the bag, and those who have used it- we honor these stories by making beautiful, bespoke repairs. Not only is it sustainable, it’s one of a kind. Every Bag Counts.
